Woman angry while sending an email on her phone

Her Family Offered to Cater Her Childhood Best Friend’s Wedding for Free, Then He Uninvited Her a Week Before Because His Fiancée Knew About Her Old Feelings

A woman’s family offered to cater her childhood best friend’s wedding as a gift. Then, a week before the big day, he called to tell her she was no longer invited because his fiancée was uncomfortable with her being there.

When her parents heard, they backed out of the wedding and canceled the catering. Now her old friend is calling her petty and accusing her of trying to ruin the wedding after all.

Two Families That Were Always Close

She and her friend grew up together, and their families were close too. Holidays, dinners, and get-togethers often included both households.

That closeness created a lot of shared history. For years, the two of them were part of each other’s everyday lives.

A Couple in Everyone’s Eyes

Both sets of parents liked to tease them about being a couple. They’d ask when the two would finally get together or joke that their outings were dates.

The families even referred to them as a couple at times. Even though they never dated, that idea followed them for years.

Feelings That Never Went Anywhere

She did have feelings for him. But after they left for college, they drifted apart.

Once school ended, he moved to another state, and nothing ever came of it. These days, they mostly keep in touch by sending each other videos online.

An Engagement Back Home

When he announced his engagement, she accepted that a relationship between them was never going to happen. She felt at peace with it.

The wedding is being held back in their hometown. Since the families are still close, hers wanted to do something special to help.

Catering as a Wedding Gift

Her family offered to cater the entire wedding as their gift. They planned to make all the food themselves for the couple’s big day.

Catering is often one of the biggest wedding expenses. Depending on the number of guests, it can easily cost several thousand dollars or more, so the offer was a huge financial help.

There was no contract in place. It was simply a generous gift from one family to another.

A Call Uninviting Her

Yesterday, her childhood friend called and told her she was no longer invited. He said his fiancée was uncomfortable having her there because she knew about the feelings she’d once had.

His fiancée worried she might cause drama at the wedding. She told him she’d never do that and pointed out that she had never interfered in any of his relationships, but the decision didn’t change.

Parents Who Pulled Out

She was upset and told her mom what happened. Her parents were angry and decided they wouldn’t attend the wedding either.

That meant the catering was off too. Her mom let the couple know, and soon after, her friend called her, upset and accusing her of being petty for taking back her family’s gift.

He said they don’t have the time or money to find another caterer with the wedding only a week away. Finding last-minute catering can be expensive, and with guests already expecting a meal, the couple now faces a major cost they hadn’t planned for.

One Week Before the Wedding

He also told her that his fiancée had been right all along and that she really did want to ruin the wedding. That accusation stung, especially since she believes she was the one who was pushed out first.

She’s now wondering whether she crossed a line and whether she should ask her parents to cater the wedding even though she won’t be there. With only a week to go, she knows there’s still time to change course, but she suspects that no matter what she decides, the friendship may already be over.
